Summer Reading Book #1: Boy by Roald Dahl

Summer has started for us Ikihele's in Saudi Arabia, and us kids have summer reading books that need to be completed before the start of our new school year in KAUST . The books that I am going to give a review about is, Boy. Boy is a book that was written by Roald Dahl. This book is about Roald Dahl life from when he was a young kid to a grown man. Roald Dahl had only gone to one ordinary school in his elementary years, from there, Roald Dahl went to boarding school across Europe ( mainly in London ) Roald Dahl would talk about his family and his sisters and ancient sisters. My favorite part in the book Boy, was when his ancient sister and her boyfriend when swimming in the lake, while they were swimming Roald Dahl ( the younger version ) had put goat droppings inside his ancient sisters boyfriend smoking pipe ( He had did this because he and his family were sad because the ancient sister and her boyfriend did everything separately without them. They are used to do things together as a family) then he had put a thin layer of tobacco, once he had come back he had smoked the pipe. Later on he stated screaming his head off because of the taste. Then one of his sisters said, " Your smoking Goat Tobacco ". That was a prank from Roald Dahl.   

The Boy In the Striped Pyjamas.

Today, I had finished this book called The Boy In The Striped Pyjamas. The book was about a boy named Bruno, who had a perfect life, until one day. His father had gotten a job in a different country, and his job was being the Commander of the Army. The War was between the Jews and the Germans. Bruno lived in a house called "Out-With," Bruno thought that his new house was dull, so Bruno used to do this at his old house, Bruno used to explore the house and find new and surprising things. While Bruno was exploring his new house he had meet a friend named Shmuel. Bruno always meet with Shmuel every day. Until one day they decided to break the rules, by jumping the fence so they could play together. Bruno did not think this straight because Bruno was left on the other side of the wall for one year. Bruno's mother thought that they would meet him at the house waiting for him but he wasn't Bruno's dad almost lost his Job as a Commander, and Bruno's sister was crying because of how much she and missed Bruno. Time Zone in Sylvia Park.

On Sunday the 26 of July, my two little cousins, my brother and my sister and my parents went to Time Zone in Sylvia Park. We went to Sylvia Park for my brother Lee's school shoes. Then I asked if we could go to Time Zone in Sylvia Park, Naketa checked if we had any vouchers for Time Zone, and we did. So we drove to Time Zone.

When we arrived at Time Zone. We asked the front desk if we could play a game of Lazer Tag. But they said that we had to play with other people. So we said yes. Then we waited for 10 or 20 mins for the game to start. I was on the Yellow team with Lee, Mia and my dad. When we started the game I was confused on how to use the Lazer Gun. So I was shot at about 5 times then I knew how to use the gun.

When the game was over we had names on the gun. My name was guster. I came forth place. My dad came third place, Mia came second, Lee came first. When we were done playing Lazer tag we asked if we could do bumper carts but we had enough fun so we went back to archboyed to spend the rest of the time there.

Snorkelling At The Sand Island

On April the 8 which was yesterday, my family and I went on a snorkelling trip to The Sand Island which was close by to KAUST. My family and I and a bunch of people from KAUST went on one big boat. We saw familiar people on the boat.

Most of them were people who worked at TKS and some at Kindergarten. When we got there, there were not much people but when people were boarding the boat, there were more people boarding the boat. We were out for about 6 or 5 hours. It took us 20 or 30 minutes if we count the visit to the coast guard to do something. When were done we started making our way to the Sand Island. When we were about there I took a 3 minute nap and went down to the bottom deck to have snack with everybody else. When I was done I went to the top Deck and slept for while.

Later on the boat slowed down. I got up from another 3 minute sleep, We have arrived I RUSHED down stairs and got my snorkelling gear and waited for people to get ready. When people were getting ready I asked my dad if he could get the tube off because I wanted to dive into the water and to do deeper.  When people were ready we had to tick off our names and then we were able to snorkel.

When we were done snorkelling we went to the Sand Island were the rest of the other people were. When we got there we hanged around for a while and then we went back to the boat to have lunch. When we finished Lunch we went back into the sea for a swim. I found lots of Sea Cucumbers at the Sand Island. When we were done we went back onto the boat and sailed back to KAUST.

Whale sharks sight seeing.

On the 27th of March my family and I went on a whale shark sight seeing. We had fun snorkelling in the ocean. On our first day we went, we woke up at 5:30am to get ready, and at 6:00am we went down to room 121 to have breakfast. When we were done, we went back to our rooms to get our snorkelling gear and our other stuff. We walked all the way down to the end of the drive way to the boat it was a triple decker. It had a prayer room and a sleeping room which had beds, and on the top it was a lounge area. We started sailing to find whale sharks. It took a long time to find them so we stopped and snorkelled around the reefs. We were allowed to jump off the boat into the water. I was maybe the first kid to jump offend boat. We snorkelled and saw wonderful fish. When we got back on the boat we dried off and relaxed. Soon Dr.Jesse gave us a decision to snorkel here or go to an island close by so people chose to go to the island close by, and we did. We could snorkel there or go by boat I chose to snorkel and I do not know what my other family members chose. When we got to the island we wondered around finding things. When we were done we went back to the boat and dried off. We sailed back to the hotel went to our rooms, had a shower had dinner and went back to our rooms and went to bed

The next day we did the something, in the morning I found a eels body, but the head was missing and the body was just floating around.when we were sailing  we did not find any whale sharks on the first so we stopped for a snorkel and we got to jump off the boat again and this time I jump off the roof top into the water, it was so cool, and guess what I was the first child to jump off the roof top. Then we did the snorkel again but the tide was too strong so we got pulled by a boat. Them a few kids started jumping off the second floor and it was awesome. Then we had lunch and sailed back to our hotel. People on the boat couldn't spot any whale sharks, so on the way back people got to swim with manta rays. When people where done we sailed back to the hotel had a shower and had dinner got our laugh age and went back to the bus and the bus took us back to KAUST

On this snorkelling trip was fun and it enjoyed it, a big thanks to the people who organised the trip.

The Begging of The PYP 2015 Exhibition.

Emailing Mentors.

Last week, the fifth grade students have started the PYP 2015 Exhibition. The first thing that we had to do we had to email our mentors ( mentors are teachers who help student understand their topic that their doing). The whole fifth grade students had to write a formal letter to their mentors. Soon we had finish writing our letter to our mentor we had to wait for them to reply. Once they have replayed they also added when they could meet.

Topics  

In fifth grade they usually do single topics and if you have the same topics as some on else you can partner up or go solo. In 2015 the fifth grade classes have to the same topic. In 5CM ( grade 5 Caitlin McQuaid) we got to do votes for a topic. Most people chose Environmental and Marine Life. The topic that I am doing is marine life and it is about Sharks or maybe something else.

The Begging of The 2015 Exhibition.

On April the 28 of 2015 at 6:00pm,  the opening night of the PYP Exhibition is where students present to parents and students of the KAUST school. If any of my family members would like to come to KAUST Saudi Arabia Email or Facebook Naketa Ikihele or Murray Ikihele to come and watch Ethyn Ikihele at the Kaust school.       

Dairy of The Wimpy Kid Hard Luck.

Yesterday morning at 3:00 my family and I were leaving Dubai because we were staying their for only for 3 or 4 days in Dubai. When we were leaving Dubai, my family and I went to a book store to get some new books and the new books that we got was Dairy of a Wimpy kid Hard Luck, If I Stay Part 2 ( I guess), and a movie book called Divergent part 2. The book that I just finished was  Dairy of a Wimpy kid Hard Luck. The book is mostly about when Greg the main Character, is jealous that Rowley Jefferson has a GIRLFRIEND named Abigail, and Greg finds a one of those magic 8 ball and he uses the magic 8 ball to make his decisions and then he gets caught using it and then at the end of the story he has a report due and he stays up until 11:00 or 12:00 to finish his report but the report said it had to be typed so he went to sleep and told his mom that he will wake up at 6:30 to type it but he does't remember hitting the the alarm because his mom did and she rote the report for him and he maybe got an A+ on his report. I finished the book in 1 day which was yesterday and I stayed up all night trying to finish the book and I completed it and we might get part 9 which is the Long Haul.
